Will strive for UT’s progress with Centre, vows Vaithilingam
Newly elected Lok Sabha member from Puducherry V Vaithilingam said that he would strive to obtain the requirements of Puducherry from the union government.

Talking to news persons after obtaining his election certificate here, Vaithilingam said the BJP's victory was a notable but it could not fix its foot print in southern states, he said adding that with this is the reason BJP government could not neglect the southern states. He attributed his massive victory to the faith of the people reposed on AICC president Rahul Gandhi and DMK president M K Stalin.
Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, his cabinet colleagues, AICC secretary in charge of Puducherry Sanjay Dutt, speaker (in charge) Sivakozhunthu and PCC president A Namasivayam among others accompanied Vaithilingam to get the certificate. Later, they took out a procession and garlanded the statue of leaders like Indira Gandhi and Rajiv Gandhi and celebrated the victory by distributing sweets and bursting crackers.
Meanwhile, N R Congress president N Rangasamy who suffered a setback in this elections in a statement, thanked the people who voted for the party and the political party leaders who worked for the party candidate.
He also congratulated Narendra Modi and Amit Shah for the BJP's second successive victory and added that the N R Congress would continue to function for the development and welfare of the people of Puducherry with more dedication.
