Governor leads homage to Rajiv Gandhi
Floral tributes were paid to former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion of his 28th death anniversary on Tuesday. Governor Banwarilal Purohit paid floral tributes to a portrait of Rajiv Gandhi at Udhagamandalam. The Governor also administered the anti-terrorism pledge to the officers and staff of Raj Bhavan through video conferencing.

Purohit, camping in The Nilgiris, administered the Anti-Terrorism Day pledge to the officers and staff of Raj Bhavan at Udhagamandalam also, an official said.
At Chennai, state police chief TK Rajendiran administered the Anti-Terrorism pledge to police officials.
State Fisheries Minister D Jayakumar paid floral tributes to a portrait of Rajiv to mark the occasion in Chennai.
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president KS Alagiri paid tributes to the portrait of Rajiv at TNCC headquarters Sathiymurthy Bhavan in the city.
Elsewhere in the state, leaders of various parties and Congress leaders and functionaries paid floral tributes to the late leader.
The Rajiv Jyothi Yatra, which was flagged off in Kanniyakumari last week, reached Rajiv Gandhi’s memorial at Sriperumbudur, about 40 km from here —the place where he was felled by a suicide bomber this day in 1991 —after passing through several districts of the state and Kerala.
Alagiri received the Jyothi and placed it before the memorial, where a candle light vigil was organised and all religious prayer was also held to mark the occasion.
The Yatra was organized by the Labour wing of the Karnataka Congress Committee under the leadership of SS Prakasam.
Further, the party workers led by Alagiri took the anti-terrorism pledge. A medical camp was also held to mark the day.

Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, former Speaker and Congress party Lok Sabha candidate from Puducherry V Vaithilingam, legislators, AICC secretary incharge of Puducherry Sanjay Dutt, senior officials of the territorial administration are among others who garlanded the statue of the late leader at Ellaipillaichavady.
Functionaries of the Puducherry Pradesh Congress Committee (PCC) also garlanded the statue of Rajiv Gandhi on the occasion.
Patriotic songs were sung and anti-terrorism pledge was taken at the pedestal of the statue. An all religious prayer was held on the occasion.
Earlier, rich tributes were paid to a decorated portrait of Rajiv Gandhi at the PCC office in Puducherry. Narayanasamy, Dutt and other party leaders took part.
