“Closely monitor and observe the DMK counting agents as they have a notorious history of election malpractices,” AIADMK leaders O Panneerselvam and Edappadi K Palaniswami said in a communique to party poll observers and agents.

A statement from the AIADMK headquarters urged the party agents to reach the counting stations by 6 am and ensure that the counting arrangements are in place. Agents should check that all the EVMs are intact with the seal. The party members should also ensure that the number of voted polls and the one displayed in the EVMs are same. The booth agents should also cross-check the votes polled from table to table and cross-check the facts with presiding officers after the end of each round.

The chief agents should be alert in constituencies where alliance partners are facing elections. In case of any discrepancies or biased activity by the government staff on poll duty, the party counting agents should up rake up the issue with the returning officer, it said.

The entire nation knows that the DMK is capable of instigating violence and malpractices if any by the opposition parties should be thwarted by the AIADMK workers, the joint statement issued by the AIADMK headquarters said.

“The 22-seat bypolls are crucial for the stability of our government and the DMK is pinning hopes to form a government. The party leadership has made it clear to our workers to keep vigil throughout the counting of votes,” an AIADMK legislator said adding that the infight in the party will widen further if the results are not in favour of the AIADMK.  We are confident of winning five to six seats and this government will be secured, the party senior added.
