Congress misused EC, not Modi: Tamilisai retort to Chidambaram
BJP state unit president Tamilisai Soundararajan on Sunday criticised senior Congress leader P Chidambaram for his recent remarks on BJP controlling the Election Commission (EC) by stating that Congress has no right to speak on EC being controlled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

In a series of tweets, Tamilisai bashed Chidambaram and Congress party for their excess control on EC during their regime. “When Congress was in power, the government appointed Naveen Chawla as CEC against the advice of former CEC Gopalaswamy. Chidambaram was the Home Minister and it is funny to hear Chidambaram saying that Modi had destroyed the reputation of EC,” tweeted Tamilisai. Recently, Chidamabaram while addressing reporters in Mumbai, accused EC of not checking the expenses of Modi and it has failed the people of the country.
He also alleged that Modi and BJP had destroyed the reputation of the institution. Tamilisai hit back at Chidambaram and Congress by stating that Congress was the first party to interfere in the functioning of EC, back in 1990s. “When TN Seshan was the CEC, the EC was expanded to a three-member body for the reason that Seshan did not budge to your (Congress) demands. After making EC a three-member body, you should know that decision of majority should be counted but you are going by the version of the third person who is against the version of the majority,” said Tamilisai in another tweet.
