TNCC's media coordinator writes to the CEO Satyabrata Sahoo
Tamil Nadu Congress Committee raised its doubts on the fairness of the repolling through a petition it gave to the Election Commission.
Chennai
Suspecting manipulation in the repolling taking place in Theni on May 19, the Tamil Nadu Congress Committee's media coordinator Gopanna and senior lawyers Sathyaprakash and SK Nawas, gave a petition to the Election Commission's CEO Satyabrata Sahoo on Friday.
The petition reflected the doubts of the Congress on the fairness of the elections. It questioned the grounds on which the EVMs were shifted from Coimbatore to Theni. The petition bluntly presented the notion that the EVM shift will favour Deputy CM O Panneerselvam's son Ravindranath, who is contesting from the Theni Lok Sabha constituency.
It further asserted the need of the VVPAT's consonance with the EVM machines. The petition urged the new machines brought to Theni be taken back in order to stop tweaking the machine to go against the 'mandate favouring Congress and its allies.'
