4 held for attacking temple official
Four people, who allegedly attacked the executive officer (EO) of the Hindu Religious and Charitable Endowments (HR&CE) department on Monday in Tiruvallur district for allegedly exposing fraud in temple accounts, were arrested on Friday. Police investigation revealed that the attack happened after the EO suspended a ticket seller Danaksekaran in Ponneri in connection with the fraud.

On May 13, EO J Srinivasan was returning from Andarkuppam Murugan temple in Ponneri along with Dhanachezian, a staff of the same temple, when the attack took place.
When Srinivasan was travelling with Dhanachezhian on a motorbike on the Minjur–Nemelicherry Outer Ring Road, a nine-member gang stopped their vehicle and attacked them. Dhanachezhian escaped with minor injuries. Ponneri police have registered a case in this connection and traced the attackers. The arrested were identified as Venkatesan, Dhanachezian, Dhansekar, and Dineshkumar.
