DoTE portal records 1 lakh applications
Over one lakh online applications seeking admission into engineering colleges in the State have been recorded by the Department of Technical Education (DoTE) so far, with the counselling authority expecting another 20,000 before the last date for registration on May 31.

“As on Thursday, about 1,00,100 applications were received from students across Tamil Nadu”, a senior DoTE official told DT Next.
While around six thousand applications each were received from cities such as Chennai, Madurai, Salem and Vellore, Perambalur and the Nilgiris accounted to only around 900 and 420 applications respectively, the official said.
With about two weeks left for filing the applications, the official also stated that another 20,000 students were expected to register online.
With Anna University refusing to carry out admissions counselling this year, DoTE has taken up the responsibility of conducting it online, and it is being carried out at a brisk pace, government sources said.
Stating that the random numbers will be generated for the registered candidates on June 3, the DoTE official said the applicants will have to then visit the Tamil Nadu Engineering Admissions (TNEA) facilitation centre for certificate verification from June 6 to June 11. “About 40,000 students used the facilitation centre for registering their applications”, the official pointed out.
The official added that the government has established 42 facilitation centres across the State where students can seek any help regarding admissions.
