VCK holds protest condemning atrocities against Dalits
Condemning the recent incidents of atrocities against Dalits VCK staged protest in Valluvarkottam on Wednesday.
Chennai
VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan presided over the protest and delivering his address, he said, “PMK is politicising the death of Karuveppalankurichi Thilagavathi murder but VCK has no role in the murder. Anyone who is involved should be punished irrespective of their community.”
The recent incidents of violence against Dalits including the Kuchipalayam incident where Dalit students were attacked over a row in playing volleyball and the Thiruvanduthurai incident where faeces was force-fed to a Dalit in Kollimalai, created widespread controversy across the state.
While many Dalit leaders across the state condemned the incidents, VCK announced a protest condemning the incidents. In the meantime, PMK accused VCK in Thilavagathi murder case and claimed that the accused was helped by VCK.
Refuting the allegation, Thirumavalavan said that VCK is not involved in Thilagavathi murder case but PMK is repeatedly trying to defame VCK by dragging their name in the case.
He also said that they have no faith in police investigation. “Though police have no benefits in the case, they are not properly investigating the incidents against Dalits. Police easily succumb to various pressure including caste and political pressures,” said Thirumavalavan.
Thirumavalvan then read the list of PMK functionaries involved in various criminal cases and said that though they were involved in various cases he had never blamed PMK leader Ramadoss for the incidents.
