Palaniswami slams Oppn leader, asks to justify his ‘back door’ meeting with KCR
Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami on Tuesday slammed DMK president MK Stalin for holding talks with Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrasekara Rao with a plan to form a third front after proposing Congress president Rahul Gandhi as a Prime Ministerial candidate.

“How could Stalin justify his back door meeting with Chandrasekara Rao after proposing Rahul Gandhi as the Prime Ministerial candidate in the Chief Minister’s conference,” he questioned, while campaigning for the party’s Sulur bypoll candidate VP Kandasamy.
The Telangana Chief Minister, who proposed a third front devoid of Congress and BJP, called on Stalin triggering speculations on the DMK’s stand in the political circles.
“Stalin’s dream (to become chief minister) will never get realised as people have already decided on their fate. People would reject the DMK, which did not implement any useful schemes while in power,” he said.
Stating that people will get their voices heard and issues addressed only if AIADMK candidate wins the bypolls, Palaniswami said, “By chance if DMK wins, then issues of the people will never be sorted out as the candidate wouldn’t take it up with the AIADMK government. It will just increase the number of DMK MLAs and nothing else.
Even so far, the 88 DMK MLAs had never given a single petition to me on issues concerning their constituencies. Whereas, if an AIADMK candidate wins, all requirements of people can be solved.”
The Chief Minister also blamed AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran of having a secret nexus with the DMK and working with a plan to dissolve the ruling AIADMK government.
Alliance leaders hit trail at Aravakurichi
Meanwhile, the leaders of the alliance parties campaigned for their respective candidates in Aravakurichi bypoll segment on Tuesday.
While campaigning for the AIADMK candidate VV Senthil Nathan, the SMK president R Sarathkumar said, the present state government has been fulfilling the promises for 100 per cent and have had a strong place in the hearts of the people. He ridiculed DMK president MK Stalin that he has been dreaming of becoming a CM even before the present government completes its term. He has never talked about the people’s problem in the Assembly floor but his personal interest, Sarathkumar said.
Referring that the late chief minister J Jayalalithaa was keen on uplifting the economic status of the women in the state, Sarathkumar recalled that she introduced enhanced gold for the ‘thali’ scheme which has become a hit among the women. Similarly, she has introduced several schemes for the people from all walks of life. He assured that Senthil Nathan would solve the water problem in the segment.
The Kongunadu Makkal Desiya Katchi’s general secretary ER Eashwaran, who campaigned for his alliance party DMK candidate Senthil Balaji, said, the people are mostly depended on agriculture and the then chief minister M Karunanidhi was the one who gave free electricity for farmers. The free electricity was highly useful for the Kongu zone people. And they were the ones whom had borrowed huge loans for agriculture which was later waived by the DMK, he noted.
