TNCC invites Vasan to return into Congress fold
The Tamil Nadu Congress Committee (TNCC) on Friday urged Tamil Maanila Congress (TMC) president GK Vasan to return to his “home” Congress and work under the leadership of All India Congress Committee chief Rahul Gandhi.

“As a president of TNCC, I invite all members of TMC, who have differences of opinion with us and quit Congress long back. It is your mother’s place and therefore, do not hesitate to come here,” TNCC president KS Alagiri said.
Urging the TMC cadre, including the chief to join the Congress, led by Rahul Gandhi, the state Congress leader said “We are ready tosupport you.”
“Nothing is going to be benefited if you are still in the TMC since after May 23, the BJP regime will be thrown out and Congress will come to power under the leadership of Rahul Gandhi,” he said adding “therefore, the Sathyamoorthy Bhavan (TNCC headquarters) doors are still open for you.”
Claiming that future will be at stake for the TMC if it continues to ally with the BJP, Alagiri said “therefore, I humbly invite you all here.”
“Having started the life in Congress, today’s TMC allying with BJP is like committing suicide,” he said adding that Congress strongly believe that one day TMC would join and work for the party together.
Vasan had quit Congress in November 2014 along with his loyalties and revived the TMC, which his father GK Moopanar had founded in 1996 and was later merged with Congress in 2002.
In 2016, the TNCC under the leadership of EVKS Elangovan had extended similar invite to Vasan. However, Vasan immediately declined the offer and said that his party has diverged a long distance from the Congress.
After allying with the AIADMK-BJP combine, the TMC bagged one Lok Sabha seat and contested in Thanjavur constituency in the April 18 general polls.
