Chicken biriyani-CSK combo keeps IPL fans exhilarated
The IPL season means just two things for Chennaiites – a loud whistle-podu for Chennai Super Kings, and of course, a plate full of chicken biriyani, to keep one’s appetite whetted for the action unfolding on-field. At least that’s what a popular food aggregator has to say vis-à-vis – the dinner choices of CSK fans during the peak season.

According to Swiggy, this cricketing finale, a record-breaking number of Indians are set to turn to food delivery, placing their bets on chicken biriyani (themost ordered dish across matches nationally).
The aggregator’s order analysis revealed how chicken fried rice, along with chicken biriyani were among the most popular dishes during the match hours (7 pm to 11pm) in the city. Chennai also witnessed the highest increase in orders during IPL with a jump of 44% followed by Pune (40%) and Delhi (37%). That’s not all, the city’s hunger for all things fried, crispy and absolutely sinful leapfrogged with Chennaiites leading the pack in ordering French fries.
As exciting and unpredictable as the matches were, a few surprise wildcard entries from small towns too made the cut. Regions such as Kanniyakumari and Kadapa saw 117-fold increase in orders compared to the pre-cricket season, which goes to show how takeaway was the only way during IPL.
