Palaniswami emphasised that he had mentioned in several of his poll rallies that the rival leader TTV Dhinakaran led Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam and DMK had been working together to bring down the AIADMK government.

“I have already stated in several meetings that DMK and AMMK have been working together to topple the government and break up the AIADMK and Thangatamilselvan’s remarks has now exposed it and confirmed that my stand was true,” he said.

While talking to reporters at Thoothukudi airport on Wednesday after completing his campaign for AIADMK candidate P Mohan, who’s contesting from Ottapidaram Assembly constituency, the Chief Minister was optimistic that the ruling AIADMK would win from all 22 Assembly constituencies and prove its majority in the Assembly.

Unlike DMK, which he said formed a minority government; the AIADMK would win all bypolls comfortably and continue to prove its majority.

Hitting out at DMK president MK Stalin, Palaniswami said Stalin’s dream of becoming Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu would never be realised. Stalin could not even dream about achieving any position after poll results were out on May 23, he added. “People know that Stalin’s dreams will not fructify,” he added.

To a query on whether the Election Commission was favouring ruling parties after referring to the arrival of ballot units from Coimbatore to Theni on Tuesday night, he said, “Some political parties, which are fearing defeat in the polls, have been spreading false propaganda against the Election Commission.”

    Thangatamilselvan defends remarks

Meanwhile, Thangatamilselvan, defended his remark seeking DMK’s support.

He said the AIADMK was claiming that theirs was “Amma’s (Jayalalithaa) government,” whereas it was only “a corrupt government,” led by “betrayers.” Speaking to reporters at Madurai, he said only Dhinakaran was the “charismatic leader,” and to bring him to the seat of power they will “dislodge,” the AIADMK government and added that “there is nothing wrong in it.” In the event of a no-confidence motion, parties, including the AMMK, DMK and Congress, will naturally vote against the government which cannot be construed as a tie-up, he added.

DMK MP hints at partnering with AMMK to oust govt
DMK Rajya Sabha MP TKS Elangovan on Wednesday hinted at the DMK and AMMK-led by TTV Dhinakaran partnering to topple the incumbent AIADMK regime. “Just like 21 parties came together from across the country against the BJP, any number of parties can partner against the AIADMK. AMMK could also be one of them. DMK could also join to topple the AIADMK regime,” Elangovan told media persons. The DMK MPs remark hit the headlines in the backdrop of the ruling AIADMK blaming the DMK and AMMK of jointly plotting to bring down the AIADMK regime led by Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami. On TRS chief and Telengana CM K Chandrasekhara Rao planning to meet Stalin in the city next week, the DMK MP said, “Whatever be his (KCR) intention, if he’s coming to meet us with a stand against BJP, we will give him due respect. Our decision has already been made public.
