    Man killed by son-in-law over domestic dispute

    A 52-year-old man was murdered by a gang led by his son-in-law for refusing to give his second daughter in marriage to him and the police arrested all the four near Vallam in Thanjavur on Wednesday.

    Passers-by noticed a partially burnt bodynear a canal in Vallamputhur on May 6. They passed on the information to theVAO Senthil Kumar who lodged a complaint with the Vallam police.


    A special team was formed led by the Vallam DSP Seetharaman who identified the body as that of Arulraj of Kottaipalayam nearThuraiyur in Tiruchy. Sources said Arulraj married off her first daughter Rosy to Savarinathan (35), of Nanchikottai in Thanjavur, who runs a borewell unit. Arulraj, his wife Roslin and their second daughter Jasmine lived in Savarinathan's house for more than a year. It was then Savarinathan forced Arulraj to marry off Jasmine also to him. However, Savarinathan refused.


    Angered by this, Savarinathan along withthree others assaulted Arulraj with lethal weapons. Aruraj died on the spot. Subsequently, they took the body and burnt it before abandoning it near a canal.


    Meanwhile, the police who investigated the case, suspected Savarinathan and secured him on Wednesday and questioned him. Based on his confession, the police arrested the other culprits and produced them before the court
