Results of Class 11 exams under new syllabus today

The examinations were conducted from March 1 to 19 with students facing tough Mathematics, Commerce and Biology papers. “The results will be announced on May 8 at 9.30 am,” a senior official from the Directorate of Examinations said on Tuesday.

Accordingly, all the 8.16 lakh students, who appeared for the exams, can view their results with analysis on www.tnresults.nic.in, www.dge1.tn.nic.in and ww.dge2.tn.nic.in. In addition, the authorities have also made arrangements to message (SMS) the results of the students to the parents or guardians as it was done for Class 12 and 10 board exams results recently.

Stating that the students could get the statement of marks from the second week of May, the official said “Similarly,the candidates can also download their statement of marks in www.dge.tn.nic.in after submitting their date of birth and registration number.”

The official said that students could also apply for re-totalling by paying the amount prescribed in the Directorate of Examination portal. “Students could also receive the printout copy of the answer script,” he added.

The official said that the students who failed can re-appear for the exam in June. “The dates for submitting application forms for the re-exams will be announced later,” he added. This year students wrote Class 11 exams for a total of 600 marks unlike the previous total of 1,200 marks.

“Practical exams for subjects like Chemistry and Physics will carry 20 marks instead of 50 marks and the theory exam will carry 80 marks,” the official said.

However, academicians predict that since the new curriculum was tough only few students will be able to score centum in the subjects. “Many students did not write Mathematics exams well. It was reflected during my answer sheets evaluation,” a government high school teacher near Pallavaram said.
