The holiest of months in the Islamic calendar has started today. Ramzan throws light on the asymmetric society through obligating even the richest to fast, for them to empathize with the starving and go serve the needy. Fasting is the third Islamic tenet of the five tenets.

Ramzan is usually observed from the day after the night of spotting the crescent. The water-less fasting starts after the 'Sehar' meal before the break of dawn, the next meal is taken after sunset this time is called 'Iftaar'.

The duration of fasting is nearly 14 hours per day for a period of 30 days. Ramzan reaches its conclusion with feasting (Eid) and providing alms to the needy.
