When he was on his way to work, five persons kidnapped him and took him away. The kidnappers identified as Durai (27), Soundar (23), Afzal Babu (24) and Altaf (25) contacted Perumal’s wife Vasugi and told that her that her husband has been kidnapped. Vasugi registered a complaint with the Doosai police and the cops using the cell phone number traced the culprits to a location near Kancheepuram. All four were arrested and the car was also seized. One person Alim of Arakkonam who escaped is being searched for. Perumal when interrogated said that the gang kidnaped him as they wrongly identifying him to be a man who picked up currency notes tossed by the gang during the April 18 polls. Investigations are continuing.
