Central jobs denied to Tamils: DMK 

Describing the large-scale appointment of north Indians in such Central establishments in the state as a ‘betrayal,’ Stalin, in a statement, said that it was deeply saddening that the inhuman snatching away of opportunities of Tamil Nadu youths had increased only during the last five-year BJP rule.

Referring to the reported appointment of 300 north Indians as apprentices at Golden Rock Railway workshop in Tiruchy recently, Stalin who is also the Leader of the Opposition claimed that not one of a few hundred Tamil youths, who took the test were selected. Of the 2,600 posts at various railway offices in state, mainly Chennai and Coimbatore, about 2,300 candidates selected were from the north.

Drawing the public attention to the postal department recruitment scam inquired by CBI and reported irregularities in appointments made for Group-D in railway department, the DMK president said the development would aggravate the unemployment problem in the state where 80 lakh people have registered with employment offices and wait for jobs.

Remarking that the ruling BJP has created a situation where Union government jobs have been leased to northern states.

Stalin recalled their poll promise of ‘reserving’ 90 per cent jobs in central establishments in the state to Tamil Nadu youths and said the DMK would fulfil the promise after the BJP at the Centre and the AIADMK in the state are defeated on May 23, the day of elections results.
