5-year-old boy sexually abused in Thoothukudi, 3 juveniles held

All the three juvenile boys were booked under the Prevention of Children from Sexual Offences Act, 2012.

According to sources, the five-year-old victim was playing along with his predators at Mela Shanmugapuram near Arumuganeri on Friday evening. Suddenly, three juveniles forcibly took away the boy to a secluded spot nearby and allegedly had sex with him. When the boy returned home, his parents noticed his unusual behaviour.

When the parents, who grew suspicious, questioned the boy, he told them about the torture meted out to him by the three juveniles. Shocked and angered by the trio’s sexual abuse, the mother of the victim lodged a complaint with the Arumuganeri police. Acting on the complaint, police arrested the three juveniles and registered cases under POCSO Act.

While one of the juveniles was aged 16, two others were aged 13, sources said. The juvenile offenders have been lodged in Government Observation Home at Palayamkottai.
