Speaking to reporters at Chennai airport, Kamal said that the Speaker issuing a show-cause notice to the three AIADMK rebel MLAs was due to their internal differences.

Dhanapal has sent notices to legislators E Rathinasabapathy, VT Kalaiselvan, and VT Prabhu on the grounds that they are supporting AMMK general secretary TTV Dhinakaran.

When asked about the no-confidence motion moved by the DMK against the Speaker, Kamal said that they could bring in a motion. “Anything can happen” he added.

To a query on the MNM’s prospects in the bypolls, he said that he goes by the prediction that his party might perform well.

Later campaigning for his party candidate in Ottapidaram (Reserve) constituency, Kamal said that the MNM is all about honesty and love for people.

The Makkal Neethi Maiyam (MNM) is different from other political parties since its aim is not to blame others for the sake of its existence. However, there are two parties, which blame each other, he said in a veiled reference to the Dravidian majors.

Kamal canvassed votes for the MNM candidate Gandhi at KTC Nagar Junction in Thoothukudi on Friday evening. He said his party would say what’s required for the welfare of people and would execute it certainly in the coming days. He said, “If the political parties vying for honours were really concerned about the welfare of people, they would have implemented schemes to benefit people and not given advance to people prior to elections.” The money given to people was not earned by politicians and what they gave was a paltry sum. People need not do big sacrifices, but they should not be lured by money and cast their votes according to their choice at the right time, he said.

Recalling the legacy of freedom fighter VO Chidambaram Pillai, who was born in Ottapidaram, he said it was the soil known for courage and honesty and need not teach people about these factors.
