    Our party, a people’s movement, none can destroy it, says OPS

    “Nobody can destroy AIADMK and the party which serves as people’s movement will never disappear,” said Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Thursday. He was campaigning for his party candidate S Muniyandi, who’s contesting from Tiruparankundram Assembly constituency for the May 19 bypoll.

    Canvassing votes for the candidate near Silaiman in Madurai, he said Tiruparankundram constituency was AIADMK’s forte and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, who is following the footsteps of his late predecessor J Jayalalithaa had been delivering good governance through several schemes for the welfare of people.

    “Though Jayalalithaa is not with us, welfare schemes launched by her remain alive and they are delivering the goods to the people,” Paneerselvam said and added that the schemes launched by Jayalalithaa had long term vision to benefit the people.

    Further he elaborated on the peaceful situation prevailing in the state without any communal strife.

    He further said, “Jayalalithaa’s soul is watching from above the activities of her party cadre, who had been discharging their duties with respect and fear. The DMK regime made lives of people miserable, but people are happy now under the AIADMK regime.”

    The Deputy Chief Minister highlighted the special assistance of Rs 2,000 to each of families under below poverty line that would be continued by the government after election results were out.

    He appealed to the people to teach a fitting lesson to the opponents and the betrayers in the upcoming polls.

    Later, Panneerselvam convened a consultative meeting with party workers and appealed them to work heart and soul to bring victory for Muniyandi. During the meeting, cadre of various parties joined the AIADMK in the presence of Panneerselvam, KP Munusamy, AIADMK’s deputy coordinator for elections, Cooperation Minister Sellur K Raju, Minister for Revenue and Disaster Management RB Udhayakumar and Forest Minister Dindigul C Sreenivasan.

    Senthil Kumar, who earlier filed his nominations to contest from Tiruparankundram constituency representing himself as state youth wing secretary of Pragadeesh Samajwadi Party, joined the AIADMK after withdrawing his nominations, sources said.
