    3 of family die in LPG blast in Sivaganga

    Three family members, including two children, were charred to death in an alleged LPG cylinder explosion in their house at Uthampatti village near Singampunari here on Wednesday. .

    The police said the deceased have been identified as K.Chinnammal (29), her son K.Veeran (5) and daughter K.Divyadarshini (3).


    The incident took place when Chinnammal ignited the gas stove to prepare food. The trio got trapped in the fire and were charred to death. The body of Divyadarshini was mutilated beyond recognition from the blast.


    The walls of the tile-roofed house and a portion of the roof were damaged from the impact of the explosion.


    While the explosion is suspected to have happened due to a gas leak, forensic experts and personnel of the Tamil Nadu Bomb Detection and Disposal squad collected debris samples to ascertain the reason.


    The woman’s husband was away when the explosion was reported.


    The bodies were sent to the government hospital morgue at Singampunari for post-mortem.


    Senior police and revenue officials visited the house and are investigating.
