After the end of Lok Sabha elections and bypolls for 18 constituencies, the political parties have now shifted their attention to the by-elections to the four seats of Aravakurichi, Ottapidaram, Sulur and Tiruparankundram.

In all the four constituencies, the DMK and the AIADMK are set to face a direct battle and both the parties, after announcing their candidates, have stepped up the election campaign. Party leaders have also commenced their scheduled election tour.

However, the allies are the key factor when it comes to the bypolls as they can swing the results in the favour of the alliance, in which they are part of. As far as AIADMK alliance is concerned, the alliance partners have extended their support to AIADMK in the bypolls too.

DMDK founder, Vijayakant, in a statement, said, “DMDK will continue to support AIADMK candidates in all four constituencies to the full. DMDK cadres present in Sulur, Ottapidaram, Tiruparankundram and Aravakurichi should work hard for the success of the AIADMK candidates.”

However, there is no announcement regarding the campaign of either Vijayakant or party Treasurer, Premalatha Vijayakant. Party sources are also not sure whether Premalatha will campaign for AIADMK candidates.

Meanwhile, All India Samathuva Makkal Katchi (AISMK), another ally of AIADMK, has announced a 19-member team as in-charge for all four constituencies. In a statement, party founder Sarath Kumar said, “AISMK party functionaries and in-charges will work for the success of AIADMK candidates.”

According to the statement, a four-member team will look after Sulur constituency, a six-member team will be in-charge for Aravakurichi constituency, a three-member team for Ottapidaram constituency and a six-member team for Tiruparankundram constituency.
