Vaiko, in a statement, said, “The state government is in fear of loss in the recently concluded Assembly bypolls and so they are trying to disqualify the three MLAs to maintain majority in the Assembly. So, the Speaker should not succumb to the pressure of the ruling government and should not disqualify the MLAs.”
Recently, AIADMK Whip S Rajendran, submitted a complaint to Dhanapal seeking disqualification of MLAs of three constituencies, Kallakurichi, Viruddhachalam and Aranthangi. The complaint letter submitted by him was widely criticised by politicians of Opposition parties who said that the complaint letter reflects the fear of loss in the ruling party. Meanwhile, Vaiko demanded the Speaker to remain neutral and not to react to the letter. “Speaker should be a neutral person and should not be inclined to the ruling party. Only by remaining neutral, the Speaker can preserve the Assembly tradition and save democracy,” said Vaiko.
He also said that the rulers at the state and Centre know well that May 23 verdict will not be in their favour and to save their face they are involved in all sorts of shortcuts. People too knew well that the ruling AIADMKgovernment will not get majority and they have now understood that AIADMK will go to any extent to savetheir government, said Vaiko.
