Pistol, knife seized from fake lawyer in Tiruchy
A man posing as an advocate was arrested here for threatening a person over a financial dispute. Police also seized counterfeit notes with a face value of Rs 7,000, an air pistol and a knife from the fake advocate.

Police said that Sirajudeen (50) of Officers Colony in Puthur lodged a complaint with the Fort Police that Dhavar Ali, who claimed himself to be an advocate from Old Madurai Road, was threatening him over financial settlement issues.
Acting on the complaint, the police approached the bar association in Tiruchy court to get details about the ‘advocate’. However, it came to light that there was no advocate by name Dhavar Ali.
Further investigations revealed that Dhavar Ali in claimed himself as an advocate and was doing a lot of anti-social activities including extortion.
With these leads police on Wednesday registered a case against Dhavar Ali under multiple sections of IPC, including Section 45 of Advocates Act 1961 and arrested him.
During the course of interrogation, the police were shocked to find that Dhavar Ali was possessing counterfeit notes and a printer used to produce them, besides an air pistol and a knife. He was also in possession of a seal and sticker used by advocates and a press identity card. He was circulating the fake notes in Gandhi market in Tiruchy. Ali was produced before a local court and subsequently lodged in the Tiruchy central prison on Friday.
