Report on Karur strongroom safety after inspection, says Additional CEO
The Additional CEO V Rajaraman, who inspected the strongroom in the counting centre at M Kumarasamy Engineering College where the EVMs of Karur Lok Sabha Constituency are kept, said, a detailed report on the safety of the machines and the security arrangements would be submitted with the Election Commission soon.

The Additional CEO, who arrived in Karur on Thursday, convened a meeting with the officials and the representatives of various political parties. While the Congress candidate S Jothimani had already raised doubt about the security arrangements and expressed concerns on the safety of the EVMs, the representatives from other political parties too raised the same concerns to the Additional CEO in the meeting. Subsequently, he proceeded to the counting centre at M Kumarasamy Engineering College and inspected the security arrangements. He also ensured the multi-tier security to the EVMs and round the corner security by central force as well as the local police.
While speaking to the reporters, Rajaraman said, there were complaints from the political parties about the safety of the EVMs. A detailed report on the security would be submitted with the Election Commission after a thorough inspection at the counting centre.
Karur Returning Officer T Anbalagan, SP TK Rajasekaran, Congress candidate Jothimani and others accompanied Rajaraman to the counting centre.
