Lawyer releases audio clip in Perambalur case

Releasing the voice recording to media, the advocate said that it was just one among many audio clips and in the particular clip, a woman, presumed to be young, is heard talking about being cheated by a TV videographer and another person.

The woman said that though she was invited to a private hotel for an interview, she was sexually assaulted by a politician. It is also heard in the audio clip of the woman mentioning that she was also filmed and further threatened about the same. She also claims that several women were cheated the same way.

Advocate Arul stated that it was indeed an abuse victim talking in the audio clip, and she also requested anonymity. He said that despite filing a case against the unidentified perpetrators, no action has been taken. Now that the name was also revealed, the police should look into the case, he said.

While mentioning that the police were not taking the incident seriously, Arul added, "If there is no action from the police to nab the culprits in a week, I will approach the High Court and ask for a CB-CID investigation”. Meanwhile, a special team led by ADSP Rangaraj had been formed to probe the case.
