In a statement issued in this regard, Alagiri said the teams have been formed to work for the victory of Secular Progressive Alliance in Sulur, Aravakurichi, Ottapidaram and Tiruparankundram.

Advising the teams, which also includes a few working presidents and heads of frontal organisations of the state party unit, the TNCC president said the members of the district Congress units would also attach themselves as members of the committee and coordinate electioneering work with allies for the DMK candidates.

Earlier, allies MDMK and Left parties had announced their support to the DMK in the Assembly bypolls. However, will the allies campaign for the DMK candidates in the constituency is a million-dollar questions that begs an answer? For, the DMK had consciously avoided using some of its allies during the Lok Sabha campaign.

Even a whirlwind campaigner like Vaiko had kept low this month. So did VCK leader Thol Thirumavalavan, who restricted hiscampaign to the two VCK seats apart from a few candidates in the neighbourhood on specific requests.
