Sources said that there have been frequent reports of anti-social elements using country bombs to hunt animals near Netteri village adjacent to Gudiyattam town.
Residents alleged that a couple of days ago a pack of three stray dogs were killed on the spot when they grabbed country bombs, which were reportedly missed by some hunter groups, found near the village. Locals in their complaint to the police said that a country bomb carried by one, Vikram Kumar, allegedly for hunting activities in the forests near their village, on a two- wheeler exploded on the way triggering panic among the villagers. Former panchayat president Adhimoolam, who submitted a petition to the police, demanded action against those who are involved in the use of country bombs to hunt animals. Police are investigating the matter and no case has been registered.
