AIADMK holds interview for four bypoll seats
The process of collecting applications and conducting interview of AIADMK candidates for four constituencies, going to face bypolls turned out to be a dull affair on Sunday. Only close to 70 persons showed interests in contesting in the upcoming bypolls.

Chennai
The Election Commission announced bypolls for four constituencies of Ottapidaram, Tiruparankundram, Sulur and Aravakurichi on May 19. As the elections for Lok Sabha and 18 Assembly constituencies ended on April 18, all the major parties have shifted their focus on the 4 by-elections.
The AIADMK gave a call for its party men to get application form and to submit it on Sunday, but as there were a very few takers for the application forms, party high command decided to conduct the interview on the same day. According to sources in the AIADMK, initially there was good response in the morning, but the numbers stagnated by noon. Earlier, the AIADMK leadership decided to conduct interview on a separate day by receiving the applications but seeing the low turnout they decided to conduct the interview on the same day.
The main reason was due to the constituencies such as Ottapidaram and Aravakurichi. “Ottapidaram is a reserved constituency and so many did not come forward to show interest. Similarly, in Aravakurichi due to Senthil Balaji factor many were not interested,” said a party source. The interview was conducted by party convenor O Panneerselvam and joint convenor Edappadi K Palaniswami and other party senior leaders such as Madhusoodhanan, Venugopal, Valarmathi and Tamilmagan Hussain.
