BJP functionary found murdered in Nagai

People found a body floating in a lake near Kameshwaram in Nagapattinam district on Monday morning. They informed it to the police who arrived at the spot and identified the body as that of P Senthil Kumar, a well-known BJP functionary and an office-bearer of Unorgansied Labourers Union of the BJP. The body had cut injuries on the forehead raising suspicions that Senthil Kumar could have been bludgeoned before throwing him into the lake.   

Senthil Kumar, hails from Kaliamman Kovil Street in Thirupoondi in Nagapattinam district. He is also running a cycle parking lot near Thirupoondi. The police said, the body had a deep cut wound over the left eye. The police had sent his body to Nagapattinam general hospital for an autopsy to know the cause of his death. They currently suspect that he could have been murdered as he had additional injury wounds on the forehead apart from indications of drowning. Senthil Kumar was last seen around Thirupoondi around 10.30 pm on Sunday, the police said.

Senthil Kumar was survived by his wife Uma Rani (30) and ten-year-old daughter. A case has been registered in Keelaiyur Police Station based on the complaint of his wife Uma Rani under CrPC section 174 (unnatural death) as the investigation is still underway under Assistant Superintendent of Police V Bathrinarayanan.
