Ritheesh dies of heart attack
Popular actor-politician and former DMK MP J K Ritheesh passed away on Saturday at Ramanathapuram following a cardiac arrest. He was 46. He is survived by his wife, Jotheeswari and a son. A former DMK MP from Ramanathapuram, he joined the AIADMK in April 2014.

Popular actor-politician and former DMK MP J K Ritheesh passed away on Saturday at Ramanathapuram following a cardiac arrest. He was 46. He is survived by his wife, Jotheeswari and a son. A former DMK MP from Ramanathapuram, he joined the AIADMK in April 2014.
He was at present Deputy Secretary of the MGR Youth Wing in Ramanathapuram district. On Saturday he campaigned for the Ramanathapuram BJP candidate Nainar Nagendram and returned home in the afternoon for lunch.
Soon, he complained of uneasiness and swooned at his house. He was rushed to a hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
In the 2009 Lok Sabha polls, Ritheesh contested on DMK ticket. He polled 294,945 votes and defeated AIADMK’s Satiyamoorthy by a margin of 69,215 votes.
He had acted in several films including, ‘Kaanal Neer’, ‘Nayagan’, ‘Guru’, and ‘Pen Singam’. His last film was ‘LKG’ in which he had acted as politician Ramraj Pandian.
Ritheesh was born at Kandy in Sri Lanka in 1973 before he moved to Rameswaram in 1976, where he wasbrought up.
Joint Coordinator of AIADMK and Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami and Coordinator and Deputy CM O Panneerselvam condoled the death of Ritheesh and expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members.
DMK president MK Stalin expressed shock and grief over the sudden death of his former party colleague. He said though Ritheesh joined the AIADMK, he had continued his friendly ties with the DMK workers.
