Campaigning near the Sivagangai Park in Thanjavur for MNM Lok Sabha candidate Sambath Ramadass and bypoll aspirant from Valarum Tamilagam party P Duraisamy, Kamal criticised Dhinakaran without dropping his name. “Some people say his smile is good. However, we should be aware of how this third leaf sprouted, who they are and what this group did in the past,” Kamal said.

“They will give you the gift box, but will attempt to loot the government’s treasury,” he warned the crowd, adding that the choices before the electorate were limited. “The MNM can bring good change in the state as well as the country.”

Asking the people to join hands with him in bringing about a change, Kamal wanted the people to think about Tamil Nadu and keep the MNM’s ‘Torch light’ symbol in mind when they walk the 100-metre distance towards the polling booth on the election day.

He said the people have got a chance to remove those who have been looting the government resources without any concern for public welfare.

In a lighter vein, Kamal said he has been leading a decent life with what he had earned by acting, adding that his money cannot be spared for the people. “However, it is the government that must allocate funds for public welfare schemes. After all, it is the people’s money which the government has,” he said.

Speaking about the issues in Thanjavur constituency, Kamal said, “We have been fighting for Cauvery water. However, we should encourage the farmers in the delta region to diversify their crops.”

He further said the farmers could earn 100 times the investment they made in agriculture and assured his party would pave the way for the same. Cold storage facilities for vegetables and other crops would be set up if his party was voted to power, the MNM leader added.
