Trains from Chennai to Kovai, B’luru and Tirupati cancelled
Southern Railway (SR) has cancelled several express trains from Chennai to Tirupati, Coimbatore and Bengaluru on April 14 due to engineering works being taken up for commissioning the Arakkonam – Takkolam detour line.

Train nos 16057/054/053/058 (Sapthagiri and Garudadri expresses) from Chennai to Tirupati, train no 12243/44 (Shatabdi express) operated between Chennai Central and Coimbatore, train no 22625/26 (Double Decker Express), 12027/28 (Shatabdi Express) running between Chennai Central and Bengaluru, train no 16089/90 (Yelagiri Express) operated between Chennai Central and Jolarpet and train no 16085/86 linking Arakkonam and Jolarpet, all scheduled for April 14, would be cancelled. Arakkonam – Jolarpet Express would be cancelled on April 13 too. SR has also announced cancellation of passenger trains operated from Arakkonam to Chennai Central, Katpadi, Kadappa, Vellore and Chengalpattu and EMU/MEMUs numbering over 20 would be cancelled owing to the engineering work.
Train no 11044 Madurai – Mumbai LTT weekly express commencing journey on April 13 will be diverted via Chengalpattu, Egmore and Arakkonam. Train no 22351 Pataliputra – Yesvatpur weekly express commencing journey on April 12 will be diverted via Gudur, Renigunta, Pakala, Katpadi and Jolarpettai, skipping stop at Chennai Central and Arakkonam, said a release issued by SR, which has also rescheduled three express trains running on the route.
Special train announced
A special fare special train connecting Chennai Central and Mumbai CSMT would be operated to clear extra rush of passengers. Train no: 01064 will leave Chennai Central at 3.15 pm on April 18 and 25; May 2, 9, 16, 23 and 30 and June 13, 20 and 27 and reach Mumbai CSMT at 4.30 pm the next day.
The train comprising one AC tier-II, two AC tier-III and seven sleeper class coaches will stop at Arakkonam, Renigunta, Rajampeta, Cuddapah, Yerraguntala, Tadipatri, Gooty, Guntakal, Adoni, Mantralayam Road, Raichur, Yadgir, Wadi, Gulburga, Solapur, Daund, Pune, Lonavala, Kalyan, Thane and Dadar. Advancereservation for the trains will open at 8am on April 12.
