Big clash: PM, Rahul in Madurai on same day
A multi-layered security arrangement has been put in place at Madurai airport ahead of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and All India Congress President Rahul Gandhi’s visit here on Friday.

Security has also been beefed up at their programme venues in Madurai, where these leaders are scheduled to address public rallies in support of their party candidates contesting the Lok Sabha polls.
While Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to campaign for Su. Venkatesan of the CPI (M), an ally of the Congress-led front for the Madurai constituency on Friday evening after his series of campaigns in Salem and Theni, Modi will canvass for votes for the AIADMK’s VVR Raj Satyen, who is pitted against Venkatesan on Saturday, sources said.
The Prime Minister is also scheduled to visit on April 12 and 13 to campaign for BJP’s Nainar Nagendran for the Ramanathapuram LS seat and also for AIADMK’s P Raveendranath Kumar, who is contesting from the Theni LSconstituency.
Police force has been deployed adequately. Aerial surveillance has also been mounted to monitor any suspicious movement of persons and take necessary action. South Zone Inspector General of Police KP Shanmuga Rajeswaran along with security forces, oversaw the security arrangements.
