Filing an habeas corpus plea in this regard, Nalini submitted that she had not availed any ordinary leave during her stay in prison for the past 27 years. But her representation to the DIG, Vellore Range, which was forwarded to the government, was still pending.
Also, citing the plea filed by her mother, Padmavathi, under the Tamil Nadu Suspension of Sentence Rules, 1982, to the authorities failing to evoke any response, she sought a direction to the government and prison authorities to produce her before the court so as to enabling her to present her case as a party-in-person.
