RAPE SUSPECTED: College girl found dead with slit throat in Pollachi

She was found in a semi-nude state alongside a bush at Poosaripatty near Pollachi at 4pm. Gomangalam police rushed to the spot after receiving information and she was later traced to Ragavanaickenpatty village near Dindigul.

The girl’s father filed a missing complaint report with the Kattur police after she failed to turn up at home after college. A search was on to trace her.

On retrieving the body, police found all her jewellery intact, thus ruling out the possibility of murder for gain.

Her body has been sent for post-mortem at Coimbatore Medical College and Hospital (CMCH). Whether she was raped or not can only be ascertained once the report is out, an officer said. Police examined the CCTV footage at a petrol bunk and found images of two men forcefully pushing the girl into a car and driving away. They are yet to be identified.

After preliminary inquiries, police suspect that the murder could be a fallout of a one-sided love affair. She was set to mary the man she was in love with, an officer addedHer parents had fixed her marriage with the man she loved. Probe is on.
