The complaint of Anbumani was handed over to Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) by one of the party functionaries, party’s advocate wing functionary Balu. After handing over the complaint to the CEO, Balu tiold media persons said that they have sought action against DMK president and Opposition Leader Stalin, who levelled unfounded allegations against Anbumani’s mother during an election campaign at Arakkonam.
“In the election campaign at Arakkonam, Stalin said that the properties of Vanniyar community were swindled by Ramadoss in the name of his wife, but when our party leader Ramadoss demanded proof, Stalin did not respond. So, Anbumani has lodged a complaint with the EC demanding action on Stalin,” said Balu.
Stalin while campaigning for his party candidate and former union minister Jagatrakshakan, who is also from the Vanniyar community, claimed that Ramadoss has betrayed Vanniyar community by swindling the assets of the Vanniyar Public Property Welfare Board in Tenkasi, Chennai, Cuddalore and Chidambaram and transferring them in the name of his wife, Saraswathi.
The PMK is also planning to take further action on the issue.
“Stalin’s allegations are baseless and the EC should take appropriate action against him. The CEO read the letter and assured us that he will seek an explanation from Stalin,” said Balu.
He also said that after discussing with Ramadoss they would take a call on filing a defamation case against the Leader of Opposition.
Recently, DMK Central Chennai candidate Dayanidhi Maran and his associates had circulated morphed images of PMK Central Chennai candidate Sam Paul on social media and based on a complaint from the candidate, a case was filed by city police against Dayanidhi and his associate Chetpet Vijay, said Balu.
DMK plaint against ruling party
The Opposition DMK on Friday in a complaint with the Election Commission alleged that the ruling AIADMK is moving money meant for distribution to voters in police vehicles belonging to the state intelligence wing. In a petition to the Chief Electoral Officer, DMK organisation secretary RS Bharathi alleged that the EC should not allow the top ranking police officials and IAS officers to help the ruling party to indulge in corrupt practices.
“Now shockingly, we came to know that money is being moved around in police vehicles belonging to state intelligence wing and to avoid suspicion, police personnel working as orderlies in officers’ residences are being used,” the petition alleged and added that this the reason why the DMK is insisting that police officials be transferred immediately. Referring to several complaints with regard to the allegations of bribing the voters, that was lodged earlier with the EC, the DMK petition said “Their (Police and government authorities) conduct is reprehensible and must be condemned.”
