3,600 gelatine sticks seized by flying squad in Karur
The latest among the list of odd things that are being seized by the flying squad is gelantine sticks.

A flying squad at Karur on Thursday seized as many as 3,600 gelatine sticks weighing 450 kg, which were being transported in a van without proper safety measures. Subsequently, a case was registered against the driver of the vehicle in connection with the seizure.
Sources said that a flying squad which was conducting vehicle checks at Thirukampuliyur near Salem bypass round about, serached a van and found 3600 gelatine sticks along with cables weighing 450 kg kept in 15 boxes all worth around Rs 54,262.
Subsequently, they conducted an inquiry with van driver Prabhu (32) and asked for the documents. Though the driver produced proper documents, the explosives were seized as it was being transported without proper safety measures.
Subsequently, Prabhu and the explosives were handed over to the Karur RDO and Assistant Returning Officer K Saravanamurthy. The consignment was transferred to the Karur town police.
Inquiries with Prabhu revealed that the load of explosives was being moved from a godown in Uppidamangalam to a stone quarry at K-Paramathi. The police later registered a case against Prabhu.
Meanwhile in Tiruchy, a cash of Rs 6.47 lakh was seized from three persons while they were carrying it without documents. The cash has been deposited in the treasury.
In another incident at Gudalur in the Nilgiris district, flying squad sleuths acting on a tip-off seized 20 stainless steel ‘kudams’ and 38 silver plates reportedly meant to take ‘aarti’ for the Deputy CM O Panneerselvam. Further inquiries are on.
Ayurvedic medicines seized in Pondy
In the continuing seizures in view of the upcoming polls on April 18, a team of the Kalapet police on Thursday seized Ayurvedic medicines worth Rs 2.80 lakh from a car at Kanagachettikkulam near here. During a vehicle check at Kangachettikkulam, a team of the Kalapet police searched a car coming to Puducherry from Marakkanam and found ayurvedic medicines worth around Rs 2.80 lakhÂ
in the vehicle.
