No good can come from DMK, Cong to state: OPS
Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on Tuesday said that the DMK and Congress combine did more harm than good to Tamil Nadu during their rule.
Chennai
“Despite being in power in both the state and Centre, the DMK and Congress failed to do any good. Though nine DMK ministers were in the Union Cabinet, while being a constituent of Congress for ten years, they did not bring any welfare projects to the state.
Tamil Nadu reeled under severe power shortage during the DMK rule,” he said while campaigning for CP Radhakrishnan, the BJP nominee for Coimbatore Lok Sabha constituency.
Lashing out at the DMK for failing to resolve the long-pending Cauvery issue, the Deputy Chief Minister also blamed the opposition combine for killing 40,000 people during the last leg of the Sri Lankan war.
On the other hand, Panneerselvam credited Modi for clearing obstacles in conducting jallikattu, setting up of AIIMS hospital and improving the hospitals in district headquarters. He also said that the state will become hut free one by 2023.
Pointing to the contradictions in the opposition alliance, the Deputy Chief Minister said, “In Kerala, the CPM and Congress are fighting against each other, but in Tamil Nadu, they are together.”
Further, OPS said, “Stalin says AIADMK will disappear after Parliamentary polls. When even his father M Karunanidhi couldn’t do anything, what can Stalin do? The AIADMK is a party with 1.5 crore cadre and it can’t be shaken by anyone,” he noted.
