I-T told to file details of Jaya’s assets, liabilities
The Madras High Court has directed the Income Tax Department to file a report about the assets and liabilities of former Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa by April 25.

A division bench of Justices MM Sundaresh and C Saravanan before whom the plea moved by two AIADMK members – K Pugazhenthi and P Janakiram – seeking to be appointed as administrator to the late leader’s properties came up on Wednesday, it directed the I-T counsel to furnish details of Jayalalithaa’s properties and liabilities. The bench also admitted an impleading plea moved by Jayalalithaa’s nephew J Deepak seeking to be appointed as administrator to manage her properties.
The duo on submitting that the properties owned by the late leader like her Poes Garden residence, grape farms in Hyderabad and Kodanadu estate works out to hundreds of crores and hence a proper administration was required.
In another plea by Traffic Ramaswamy challenging the conversion of the late CM’s residence into a memorial, the I-T Department had submitted a few months ago that the late Jayalalithaa’s Poes Garden residence was attached in 2007 for tax dues amounting to Rs 16.74 crore. Similarly, four other properties of in Chennai and Hyderabad were also attached for non-payment of dues, the I-T Department had submitted then.
