Now married and settled in Thanjavur, Jeevajyothi says that she is not only thankful to the Supreme Court judges, but also to the late Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa. “It was Jayalalithaa madam who ensured that the accused were arrested and convicted. The police team also carried out its duty. It’s been many years, but in the end, justice has triumphed,” she said.

When asked why she was thankful to Jayalalithaa, Jeevajyothi said that while she was facing harassment at the hands of P Rajagopal, she met Jayalalithaa and told her what she was going through. Jayalalithaa was not in power, but she assured her that she would help. After Jayalalithaa became Chief Minister in the year 2001, the case was taken up by the police. “If Jayalalithaa madam was alive, I would have gone and fallen at her feet seeking her asirvadam (blessings), today,” Jeevajyothi added.

Jeevajyothi was in the eye of the storm after she filed a complaint against Rajagopal, who wanted to marry her. She got married to Prince Santhakumar, who was allegedly kidnapped and later found dead in Kodaikanal. The police arrested Rajagopal on charges of murder.
