Vellore
According to the police, the buses, which were undergoing repairs, were parked very closely. It was said that while working on a bus, the sparks from the welding flame triggered the fire. The fire spread to other buses parked nearby fanned by strong breeze.
Local residents noticed the fire and tried to put it out. As they were not able to contain it, they informed the Fire and Rescue unit. The Fire and Rescue personnel rushed to the spot and managed to douse the fire.
In the fire, two buses were gutted and the rear of the third bus suffered severe damages. Quick action by the Fire and Rescue unit prevented the flames from spreading to a nearby lorry shed. The shed had more than 30 lorries parked inside at the time of the incident.
No case was registered, but investigations are under way.
