DMK wants co-op staff spared from poll duty
The DMK made three separate representations with the Election Commission of India (ECI), including a request to issue appropriate orders to keep the staff of cooperative societies out of election duty.

In the petition submitted to CEO, DMK legal wing secretary R Girirajan said about 18,775 cooperative societies/banks under administration of “so-called elected bodies” were controlled by AIADMK.
The district cooperative union containing primary societies and state-level apex body were also being administered by the AIADMK members.
They have captured the offices of the president and the vice president and board of directors in the societies by committing various electoral offences across the state, Girirajan said.
Claiming that secretaries and the staff were reportedly deputed to election work, he said, “If they are deputed for election duty, they would commit malpractices by misusing their powers. It would affect the concept of free and fair elections,” before requesting the EC to issue appropriate orders to keep away secretaries and
paid employees of cooperative societies from election work.
In another complaint, DMK gave the EC a reminder on the numerous complaints against the AIADMK members regarding poll code violation. “Immediate action is required as soon as the complaints/demands are given to the ECI. No action has been informed to us so far,” said the complaint, which had also named a few officials of
REPCO bank and asked RBI to monitor cash transaction in its branches. DMK has also urged the ECI to appoint an administrator to monitor cash transactions in REPCO bank.
Another complaint was exclusively made to pull Karur DSP out of election duty. The DSP has been accused of allowing over 200 AIADMK cadre to accompany their candidate
M Thambidurai and creating ruckus when its Congress candidate Jothimani turned up for filing nomination. The DMK has charged the DSP for being biased towards the AIADMK.
