Chennai
A huge statue of Lord Perumal which has a height of 64 feet and width of 24 feet, is being stationed in Sambal valley for the past 52 days.
Reports said, it was planned by some devotees in Bangalore, to erect a huge statue of 108 feet tall, in Egipura. The statue for the same was being transported from Korakkottai, Thiruvannamalai.
Sources said, that the 64 x 24 feet statue was transported in a trailer on December 7 and the trailer reached Sambal Valley in Krishnagiri-Bangalore National highway on February 9.Â
Since there are a lot of small culverts along the way further, the trailer was stationed in Shoolagiri for the past 52 days.
Reports said, the forest department requested permission to allow the trailer through forest road along the National Highway, but the response is still pending by the authorities.
Hence it was reported that the organisers are in the process of forming a temporary bridge over the Thennpennai river.
