DMK stalling even pro-poor projects, lambasts Chief Minister
Kicking off his election campaign, Chief Minister Edappadi K Palaniswami slammed DMK for remaining a stumbling block to AIADMK implementing welfare projects for the poor and downtrodden in the state.

“On line with the BJP-led Union government’s Rs 6,000 financial assistance scheme to small and marginalised farmers, the AIADMK government too decided to give Rs 2,000 to poor people. The DMK which has done nothing for people, has stalled this financial assistance scheme by approaching the court,” he said.
The Chief Minister was campaigning for the party’s alliance candidate from DMDK LK Sudhish, who is contesting from Kallakurichi Lok Sabha constituency and AIADMK candidate from Salem KRS Saravanan.
Prior to commencing the campaign for Lok Sabha polls the Chief Minister offered prayers at Lord Vinayaka temple.
Lavishly praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi as a strong and efficient leader, the Chief Minister invoked patriotism and national security by referring to air strikes on Pakistan to garner votes in the rural hinterlands.
Terming this polls as a battle between the good (AIADMK) and evil (DMK), the Chief Minister said the AIADMK has formed an alliance with welfare of people in mind, while DMK has forged an opportunistic alliance.
“The DMK has done nothing for the welfare of the people, but was concerned only about the welfare of its family. It failed to do any good despite being a coalition partner at the Centre for 11 years. Only if like-minded parties form government in both state and Centre, Tamil Nadu will get benefitted,” he said.
Explaining that AIADMK safeguarded the interests of farmers by solving the 50 years Cauvery row, the Chief Minister asked people to compare AIADMK and DMK as who would do good before voting.
During the course of campaign, the Chief Minister attempted to strike a chord with public by consuming tea at a road side shop at Karumandurai area. The villagers were pleasantly surprised to see Palaniswami having tea in a simple shop along with them. Toeing him, the DMDK candidate Sudhish too joined Palaniswami at the shop.In another instance, the Chief Minister, who was campaigning at the Vazhapadi bus terminus, stopped his speech briefly for a few minutes as prayers were underway at a nearby mosque around 12.30 pm.
Later at Thoppur in Dharmapuri district, the Chief Minister campaigned for Dharmapuri candidate Anbumani Ramadoss.
