Virudhunagar Judicial Magistrate K Mumtaz on Tuesday granted the bail after directing her to furnish a surety bond. Nirmala Devi was arrested by the Aruppukottai town police on April 16 last year.

The case was later transferred to the CB-CID, who arrested two others, Murugan, MKU assistant professor and Karuppasamy, a research scholar, as co-accused. The case is presently being heard by the Srivilliputhur fast track mahila court after the CB-CIB submitted a chargesheet. Meanwhile, the judge of the mahila court on Wednesday adjourned the case, which came up for hearing. Both Murugan and Karuppasamy were produced amid tight security, sources said.
