Actor accuses director of completing film using his body double

In what appears to be a real-life repeat of the Steve Martin-Eddie Murphy starrer hit film Bowfinger, Jigarthanda star Bobby Simha has alleged that a movie director completed a feature film using his body double and graphics after he opted out of the project.

Bobby has lodged the complaint against director John Paulraj saying that he had acted for only five days before opting out of the movie since the script shown to him before the start of the project was different from the one shot.

The movie’s first trailer was released on 24 November 2018, under the name Agni Dev. Later, the title was changed to Agni Devi. The second trailer was released on Tuesday evening in the YouTube handle of T-series. In his complaint filed at Nandambakkam police station, Bobby had written that John Paulraj completed the film by using a dupe and VFX as well without his permission. The actor alleged that the director had made changes to the script and the scenes which were shot with him were in no way related to the story that was narrated to him,” police said quoting the complaint.

The actor had opted out of the project due to creative differences with the director. It is learnt that he had also filed a petition at a civil court in Coimbatore to look into the issue and an advocate notice has been sent to the director.

However, the trailer was released on Tuesday evening and the movie is ready for release on Friday. The movie is being promoted with Bobby’s face on the posters.

Based on the actor’s complaint, Nandambakkam police have filed a case against the director in four sections including forgery of documents and criminal breach of trust. Police said that the director would be called for an inquiry.
