Tiruvannamalai
SE Karthiyayini who inspected the crack said that there was nothing to fear. She added that it was just a mere air crack and could be set right using the traditional construction materials including lime and haritaki (Kadukkai).
It may be recalled that a month ago, cracks were noticed on the chests of the Kodi Mangai statue atop the temple gopuram. Following this, devotees raised concerns to the Joint Commissioner of HR & CE Department, R Gnanasekaran. The JC wrote to the Chennai HR&CE office requesting the department to mend the statue.
Based on the request, the temple sthapathi inspected the location and said that the repair work would start as soon as the material are procured. The team then left for Chennai.
