AMMK announces candidates for 21 parliamentary constituencies
AMMK chief TTV Dhinakaran on Sunday announced candidates for 24 parliamentary and 9 assembly constituencies
Chennai
The AMMK, which began its election campaign ahead of AIADMK and DMK, started distributing materials and cash to its field workers to start setting up booth committees and zonal poll offices. As a first round, the party came out with candidates to be fielded for 24 parliamentary and 9 assembly constituencies.
The candidates names were for 23 Lok Sabha seats out of 39 in Tamil Nadu and for the lone Puducherry seat, a statement issued here said.
Â
The AMMK also announced its first list of nine candidates, who will contest in the Assembly bye-elections.
Dhinakaran handpicked candidates for each constituency and by polls after discussing with party general secretary V K Sasikala, a source said.
Earlier, Dhinakaran had asked the functionaries not to think about the candidates’ list, alliances and poll manifesto and let the top brass decide that.Â
By-elections to 18 Assembly seats in Tamil Nadu would be held on April 18 along with the Lok Sabha polls.
