Share information, your identity will be safe, CB-CID urges people
Even as the State government has issued order to transfer the Pollachi sexual assault case from the CB-CID to CBI, the CID probe continued till Thursday. The CB-CID asked people to share information on the case and promised their identity will be kept confidential.

In a press release on Thursday, CB-CID said the probe was being conducted by a team led by SP Nisha Parthiban. “We will continue with the probe until CBI takes over officially,” a CB-CID official said, adding those who want to share videos or photographs linked to the case can e-mail to ‘cbcidcbecity@gmail.com’ or contact 94884-42993.
People can also send information to the DSP, CB-CID at 800, Avinashi Road, Coimbatore – 18. Considering the sensitive nature of the case, CB-CID asked people to not share videos or photographs on social media.
The case is related to a suspected multiple sexual assault cases by a gang of youths. The youths allegedly lured women through social media and molested them. They also filmed the acts and later used the same to blackmail the women. Coimbatore rural police had arrested four suspects so far and detained them under goondas act.
After such a video, in which a woman was heard pleading for mercy, went viral, the case was transferred to CB-CID. Police came to know about the video after a woman lodged a complaint of harassment and robbery against the gang.
Later, her brother along with his friends assaulted the suspects and snatched their mobile phones, which were handed over to police. While checking videos on their phones, police stumbled upon many explicit videos of women who were suspected to be victims of the gang.
